The struggle with forgetting is real, and it’s showing up in my life a lot these days. I’m encountering it in primarily two ways:
Short-term forgetfulness, whether among people with clinical memory loss, or those of us dealing with “midlife brain function”
Chronic lack of remembering to utilize helpful practices/wisdom in moments when they’re needed most
Although I am far from a neurology expert, here are suggestions for helping with each of these types of forgetting (If I’m going to present a problem, I should also offer something that aims to ameliorate it).
For #1: Doing movements that involve crossing the mid-line can strengthen connections between the two sides of the brain, which improves cognition, including memory recall.
For #2: Focus on the last section of my book of haiku poetry, which is labeled “Remembering.” It reminds readers to maintain personal practices so that the brain can readily call upon messages/teachings in “triggering” moments.
My slim but mighty book will be released on August 23rd, but it is available now for preorder on Amazon.
If you feel so inclined, place your order now so you don’t forget ;)
Thank you in advance!
