Upon entering the room of my 88 year-old hospice client, my eyes immediately feasted on two things she was wearing–a bright smile and a tee-shirt that had the words, “Weekend Vibes” splashed across the chest.

This simple sight warmed my heart and delivered instant energy, a.k.a. high vibes.

While what I saw ignited this spark (and made me grateful for the sense of sight), the best part about this scene is that, ironically, it reminded me of the power of all that is UNseen in our world.

Vibes are the perfect example. They’re neither visible nor tangible, but they are felt and we know they affect us, strongly.

Generally speaking, the seen world gets WAY more of our attention than the unseen world. It’s easier to access the seen world since we are wired to seek pleasurable, instantly gratifying experiences.

Yet, what was most valuable about the moment described above, is that it produced the long-lasting unseen sensations of warmth, delight, and soul connection. This outcome hints that the unseen of our world merits more attention.

Going “there” requires more attentiveness and effort, but the payoff is worth it…it just might help us see clearly the unseen self within each of us.
